Dynamo St. Petersburg – FIBA Europe League CHAMPIONS!
Dynamo St. Petersburg has triumphally finished its first European campaign by winning FIBA Europe League with a fantastic and unbeatable record – 20 wins in 20 games played. This fabulous success is to be taken even more seriously as St. Petersburg side was founded less than a year ago. Kyiv was the team to get the lead early in quarter 1 with a good percentage of 3-point shots. But as the Ukrainians got 10 points ahead (28:18) Dynamo St. Petersburg made a great comeback by outscoring opponents 12:0. Another run was made by David Blatt’ team on the last minutes of the first half. McCarty, Veremeenko and Askabic made the score 41:33 as the second quarter finished. McCarty and Mate Milisa were top-scorers in the third quarter as their team was ahead by 15 points with only 10 minutes to play. Kyiv made there best to save the game but Dynamo St. Petersburg captain Ed Cota was the key player for the last quarter as he scored decisive 3-pointer and then a 2-pointer to get the win – 95:84!
